Mabel Student Showcase
The 4th graders recently studied about legends and wrote their own legends. They used Story Creator 2 on the Myths and Legends website to add illustrations, narration, and a few sound effects to their original legends. Attention Parents - A New Way to Keep Track of Your Student's Progress
.jpg){kind=small}  To view a 4-minute video about NCWISE Parent Assistant, go to Mabel’s website http://wataugasd.mes.schoolfusion.us
and then click on Parent Links along the top of the screen. Click Parent Assist Module Video Tutorial to start the video. Parents must attend a training session at Mabel School to receive a username and password to access NCWISE Parent Assistant. Parents will be asked to provide a picture ID before they receive their username and password to protect the privacy of our students.
Training sessions will be provided as follows in the Middle School Computer Lab at Mabel:
Tuesday, January 31, 8:00 am - 8:30 am
Tuesday, January 31, 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm Wednesday, February 1, 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm The snow date for all sessions will be Thursday, February 2 at same times as originally scheduled. Parents only need to attend one session and do not need to sign up ahead of time.

Recycle Phone Books and Earn Money for Our School!
The 20th annual Skyline Directory Collection Drive is from January 1 to March 31. Please bring old phone books to Mabel School to help us earn 25 cents for each one we recycle. Mabel collected the most phone books for recycling in 2010 and we think we can do that again this year with your help! Auditions for Shooting Stars
 Mabel will conduct auditions for Shooting Stars, (the annual county wide talent show) on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 9:24 in the Music Room. This is round one of the auditions. If your student is chosen, they will advance to Round 2 which will be held at the high school in March. An audition form must be filled out by the student and parent and guidelines for consideration for the show MUST be followed. There will be a panel of 3 or more judges and a small audience present for the auditions. FORMS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE LIBRARY ON THE MAIN DESK. |
Advertise in Our Yearbook!
If you own a business, please consider purchasing advertising space in our yearbook. Space is available for a few more ads. Prices for ads are $25 for 1/4 page, $50 for 1/2 page, and $100 for a full page. Attention Parents of 8th Graders!

Parents of 8th Graders - WHS Parent Night will be Tuesday, January 31st from 5:30-6:30 pm in the WHS Auditorium.
The snow date is Monday, February 13th from 5:30-6:30 pm. Please come prepared with days and times that would be convenient for you to sign up and attend your child's registration meeting at Mabel. Mrs. Welch will scheduling the meetings February 6th - February 17. Late times will be available on February 6th and February 13th. Mabel will hold a Mabel ONLY parent night at Mabel to go more in depth with the registration process and to answer any questions or concerns you may have on February 6th at 6 pm in the computer lab at Mabel. The snow date for this meeting will be February 9th.

Don't Delay - Buy a Yearbook Today!
 Yearbooks can be purchased online, by calling 1-800-944-5930 or by sending your payment to school. The cost of a yearbook is $25.00.Order forms were given to parents at parent conferences in October. Please use this order form to submit your yearbook orders at school or go to Balfour to order online or call 1-800-944-5930 to order. A $1.00 servicing fee will be added to credit card online purchases and orders placed at the call center through the 800 number. The deadline for ordering online is February 1st. Don't delay - the only way to guarantee that you get a yearbook is to order one NOW! We've ordered 110 yearbooks and we've already sold 82 of the 110 so there are 28 left. We can't order more than 110 since the deadline to change the quantity has passed. Don't delay - be sure to get your order in NOW to be sure you have a yearbook when they are distributed at the end of the school year! |
